When you order custom sportswear from a manufacturer in Pakistan, the price you are quoted is only part of your landed cost. US customs duties and fees are added when the goods enter the country. This guide explains how shipping works, which duties and tariffs applied to apparel from Pakistan as of October 2026, and how to estimate what you will pay. It is general information, not legal or customs advice, so confirm the details for your shipment with a licensed customs broker.
The short answer
- Shipping: At Hameen Sports, standard tracked shipping to your door is included in our price.
- Duties: US customs duties are calculated on the value of the goods, using the base duty rate for each product’s tariff code plus any additional tariffs in force.
- Who pays: Duties, import taxes and customs fees are paid by the importer (the buyer), not included in our price.
- Small orders: The $800 de minimis exemption no longer covers most commercial shipments of apparel, so even small orders usually pay duty.
How your order is shipped
After production and final quality checks, we ship from our facility in Sialkot with tracking. Most orders are delivered within 2–3 weeks of your deposit payment, and that time includes both manufacturing and shipping. You receive tracking details when the order leaves, and QC photos or video before dispatch so you can see the finished goods.
When the parcel reaches the USA, the carrier or a customs broker clears it with US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and bills the importer for duties and fees. Keep your invoice handy, because the declared value and product descriptions are what duties are calculated on.
What duties apply to apparel from Pakistan?
1. Base (MFN) duty rate
Every garment is classified under a 10-digit code in the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS). Each code has its own base rate, called the Column 1 General or most-favored-nation (MFN) rate. Knit apparel (chapter 61) has some of the highest base rates of any goods, and rates for synthetic sportswear such as polyester jerseys, hoodies and track suits commonly fall in the mid-teens to over 30 percent of the declared value, depending on the exact code.
2. Additional tariffs
US tariff policy changed several times in 2025 and 2026. As of October 2026:
- The broad “reciprocal” tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) no longer apply. The Supreme Court ruled on February 20, 2026 that IEEPA does not authorize tariffs, and CBP stopped collecting them from February 24, 2026.
- A temporary 10% global tariff under Section 122 ran from February 24 to July 24, 2026 and has expired.
- Since July 24, 2026, apparel from Pakistan carries an additional 10% Section 301 tariff on top of the base rate.
Tariffs can change at short notice, so check the current rate for your product code before you budget.
3. Customs fees
Formal entries also pay the Merchandise Processing Fee (MPF), a small percentage of the entered value with a minimum and maximum per entry. Your carrier or broker may also charge a clearance or brokerage fee.
What happened to the $800 de minimis rule?
Shipments valued at $800 or less used to enter the USA duty-free under the de minimis rule. That exemption was suspended for commercial shipments from all countries in August 2025, and it is set to end permanently by law on July 1, 2027. In practice, a team order of custom uniforms shipped by courier now goes through a normal customs entry and pays duty, whatever its value.
How to estimate your landed cost
- Start with the order value from your invoice. With our pricing, shipping is already included.
- Find the tariff code for each product, for example jerseys, shorts, hoodies or bags. A customs broker or the carrier can confirm the right code.
- Add the base rate plus any additional tariff in force for goods from Pakistan.
- Add customs fees such as MPF and any broker or clearance charge.
For example, on a $1,000 order of polyester team apparel with a combined duty rate of 25%, you would budget about $250 in duty plus fees. Your actual rate depends on the codes for your products.
Tips for a smooth import
- Ask for a detailed commercial invoice that lists each product, fabric, quantity and value.
- Combine your game uniforms, warm-ups and fan wear into one shipment to pay one set of entry fees.
- If you import regularly, as many private label brands do, work with one customs broker who knows your products.
- Budget duties into your retail or fundraising price before you order.
